Towards multiporphyrinic alpha-helices with a polypeptidic backbone as system endowed with light harvesting capabilities.

چکیده
Starting from a porphyrin functionalized derivative of the L-lysine, three peptides, bearing, respectively, two, four, and eight chromophores, were synthesized using an iterative synthetic strategy based on the choice of mild conditions for the deprotection steps.

Alpha-helices direct excitation energy flow in the Fenna Matthews Olson protein.
In photosynthesis, light is captured by antenna proteins. These proteins transfer the excitation energy with almost 100% quantum efficiency to the reaction centers, where charge separation takes place. The time scale and pathways of this transfer are controlled by the protein scaffold, which holds the pigments at optimal geometry and tunes their excitation energies (site energies). The detailed...
متن کاملبررسی تمایل مجاورت اسیدهای آمینه با یکدیگر در مارپیچهای آلفا
In order to study the tendency of amino acid neighbors in helical structures, proteins with known structures were carefully analyzed. The studied helical positions: N , Ncap, N1, N2, N3, N4, M, C4, C3, C2, C1, Ccap, C and their doublet counterparts: N Ncap, NcapN1, N1N2, N2N3, N3N4, M1M2, M2M3, C4C3, C3C2, C2C1, C1Ccap, CcapC were carefully analyzed. The propensity for all amino acids i...
متن کاملThe crystallographic structure of the B800-820 LH3 light-harvesting complex from the purple bacteria Rhodopseudomonas acidophila strain 7050.
The B800-820, or LH3, complex is a spectroscopic variant of the B800-850 LH2 peripheral light-harvesting complex. LH3 is synthesized by some species and strains of purple bacteria when growing under what are generally classed as "stressed" conditions, such as low intensity illumination and/or low temperature (<30 degrees C). The apoproteins in these complexes modify the absorption properties of...
متن کاملHydrogen bonding in a model bacteriochlorophyll-binding site drives assembly of light harvesting complex.
In this study, the contribution of intramembrane hydrogen bonding at the interface between polypeptide and cofactor is explored in the native lipid environment by use of model bacteriochlorophyll proteins. In the peripheral antenna complex, LH2, large portions of the transmembrane helices, which make up the dimeric bacteriochlorophyll-binding site, are replaced by simplified, alternating alanin...
متن کاملSequence and structure patterns in proteins from an analysis of the shortest helices: implications for helix nucleation.
The shortest helices (three-length 3(10) and four-length alpha), most abundant among helices of different lengths, have been analyzed from a database of protein structures. A characteristic feature of three-length 3(10)-helices is the shifted backbone conformation for the C-terminal residue (phi, psi angles: -95 degrees,0 degrees ), compared to the rest of the helix (-62 degrees,-24 degrees ). T...
